The 2019 Jeep Renegade is available in three trims when it is paired with a front-wheel-drive such as the Sport, Latitude, and Limited, while the 4×4 drivetrain features the same plus an additional on the Trailhawk trim. All Latitude and Sport trims feature a 2.4-liter four-cylinder Tigershark engine under the hood that forces 180 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque. On the highway, the Renegade has 30 mpg and 22 mpg in the city.  

As for the Trailhawk and the Limited, they are powered by an all-new 1.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine (which comes as an option on the Latitude and Sport trims) capable of making 177 horsepower and 200 lb-ft of torque. As an option, the turbocharged engine features engine stop-start (ESS) technology and active grille shutters (not available on the Trailhawk trim), intended to improve fuel efficiency. Jeep has introduced a segment-first nine-speed automatic transmission for reduced emissions that will be mated to the new 1.3-liter engine and towing, regardless of the drivetrain, is a substantial 2,000 pounds.  

4×4 Systems

Renegade 4×4 vehicles feature a power take-off unit (PTU) to maximize fuel efficiency and a segment-exclusive disconnecting rear axle. There are two different 4×4 systems – the Active Drive 4×4 system is a part-time 4×4 system that automatically engages by driver request or depending on driving conditions, and it comes standard on the Limited, Renegade Sport and the Latitude.

The Trailhawk has 8.7-inches of ground clearance and up to 19 inches of water fording. The Renegade Trailhawk also features a part-time 4×4 system: Active Drive Low- a system with a low-range capability that provides low-speed traction with a crawl ratio of 21:1. Both 4×4 systems come with the additional Jeep Selec-Terrain system that features five driving modes-Sport, Rock, Auto, Snow, and Sand/Mud- serving optimum performance whether on or off the road regardless of the driving condition.

Exterior Features

The 2019 Jeep Renegade sports a new exterior look. The look is complete with new front fascias, new grille surround, new aluminum wheel designs, and new wheel options for the Limited and Latitude trims. There is a new LED Lighting Group available for the 2019 Renegade lineup that contains LED headlamps, LED tail lamps, cornering fog lamps, and daytime running lights.  

Monotone paint and lower body side-cladding are customary across all trims, but side roof rails differ from black to chrome, depending on the trim. For those wanting an immersive Jeep experience of open-air, there are the My Sky Power retractable/removable panels that are offered as an option upgrade across all lineups. The 2019 Renegade offers three new exterior paint colors and seven that already exist making it a total of ten colors customers can choose.

Interior Features

Depending on the trim the features vary, but standard on all trims are steering wheel-mounted audio controls, a front center sliding armrest, cargo tie-down loops and, height adjustable rear cargo floor. The upholstery differs from cloth to fabric, with supple leather as an optional upgrade on the high-tier trims. In the luxurious trims, such as the Trailhawk and the Limited, come standard with all-season floor mats and a leather-wrapped shift knob.

The Renegade Limited trim has a 40/20/40 rear seat with trunk pass-thru access, heated front seats, and a power 8-way driver seat with lumbar support. All vehicles feature new instrument cluster graphics for 2019. There are six new interior color combinations for the 2019 Renegade trims.

Entertainment

The infotainment system varies depending on the trim with the media hubs included; the standard is the USB or AUX connections, 6-speaker audio system across the entire lineup. All trims (but the Sport trim) feature a Uconnect 4 infotainment system with a 7-inch touchscreen display with Google Android Auto and Apple CarPlay capabilities, integrated voice command Bluetooth, audio streaming, and a one-year subscription to SiriusXM Sat Radio. There’s also an 8.4-inch touchscreen display with navigation as an available upgrade, and for better sound quality there is an eight-speaker premium Beats Audio sound system complete with a subwoofer.     

Safety Features and Warranty

Standard safety features on all 2019 Renegade vehicles include advanced multistage front airbag system, ParkView rear backup camera, electronic roll mitigation, LATCH-ready anchors for children’s car seats, supplemental side airbags on the cabin, stability control systems, panic brake assist, stability control systems and, an anti-lock braking system. Jeep offers Advanced Tech Group package that comes with adaptive cruise control, front parking sensors, blind spot monitoring, and ParkSense Parallel/Perpendicular Park Assist Plus. Those who want the Renegade Limited trim have the option to advanced safety features such as LaneSense Departure Warning-Plus and Forward Collision Warning-Plus.

All vehicles come with a basic 3-year/36,000-mile warranty, a 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain, warranty, roadside assistance over five years or 100,000 miles, and rust-through coverage for five years or 100,000 miles.
