The All-New 2019 Ram 1500 comes with my options; a total of six trims, all of which come with different drivetrains, truck bed lengths, and cab sizes. The truck beds are as follows: Laramie, Limited, Rebel, Tradesman, and Big Horn/Lone Star. Drivers can have either a 4×2 or 4×4 drivetrain, a quad cab with a 6’4” bed, a crew cab that has a 5’7” bed, or a crew cab with a 6’4” bed.
Engine Type
The 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 is returning for 2019 which can generate 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque, is the engine that’s standard under the hood. It’s equipped with the e-Torque system that gets an additional 90 lb-ft of torque, which is a small power boost for the light-duty pickup truck. As an option for all trims is the legendary 5.7-liter V8 HEMI, which generates 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque.
Standard is the Multi-displacement System (MDS), and it has the choice of equipping e-Torque to the engine. There’s an extra 120 lb-ft of torque that is worth it. It’s able to tow up 12,750 pounds and carries 12,750 pounds and carry a payload of 2,300 pounds.
Going Off-Road
The truck also goes off-road. The next-generation 2019 model has an electronic-locking rear differential, adds a one-inch suspension lift, with or without the available four-corner air suspension, and 32-inch on/off-road tires on (standard) 18- or (possible) 20-inch wheels to provide additional grip is offered as a package. The potential transfer cases also have gotten an upgrade with the BorgWarner 48-12 for part-time 4WD operation with Hi and Low ranges and the BorgWarner 48-11 for on-demand 4WD; the package is available for almost every trim.
The Ram 1500 Rebel has 18-inch wheels with 33-inch Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires which are driven by an electronic-locking rear differential. It also has coil spring suspension; a one-inch factory lift; designed Bilstein shocks; robust skid plate protection for the transfer case, steering, engine. Included is the gas tank, tow hooks, and hill-descent control for added off-road capability; standard on most trims is the Ram’s active-level four-corner air suspension, but it’s an option for the Rebel.
