2023 Jeep Renegade
The 2023 Jeep Renegade is an entertaining crossover SUV with greater personality than its primary competitors. It packs a punch in the off-roading scheme of things courtesy of the Trailhawk, the highest-level trim that acquired the automaker’s Trail Rated badge. Regardless of whether or not the driver is looking for a rugged environment to dominate or a more docile ride to the mall, the Renegade gets consumers where they need to go.
1.3 L 4-cylinder
Avail. Engine Type
Under the hood of every 2023 Jeep Renegade resides a turbocharged 1.3-liter four-cylinder engine, mated with a nine-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. While the SUV is not intended to work hurriedly, its engine’s redeeming quality is the handy torque that allows the Renegade to accelerate easily away from stops. It is a small but potent vehicle with the impressive capacity to tow up to 2,000 pounds. Typically, the ride can be expected to be easygoing and comfortable. That being said, even though every trim has its perks, the top-tier Trailhawk makes off-roading an adrenaline-filled experience with quick-response steering and very minimal body roll. Indeed, the subcompact SUV initiates an overall appealing drive.
What’s new for 2023?
The largest change to the Renegade is the discontinuation of front-wheel drive. As of 2023, all-wheel drive is now the standard layout. Moreover, the Sport trim level has been eliminated, making the Latitude the introductory trim in the lineup. Other alterations are linked to modifications in equipment packages. For example, the Premium Group is now available on the Latitude trim, which provides such amenities as roof rails, cornering fog lamps, a power driver’s seat, a windshield wiper de-icer, and a heated steering wheel and front seats. Additionally, Limited trims receive standard adaptive cruise control and a High Altitude Package that houses 19-inch wheels, new badges, and neutral gray grille rings. There is even a Detonator Yellow that has been added to the exterior color palette.
The exterior of the 2023 Jeep Renegade makes for an imposing and versatile SUV. The High Altitude Package on the Renegade Limited comes with neutral gray exterior accents, LED headlamps, and Automatic High-Beam Control Headlamps. Meanwhile, there is also a Dual-Pane Panoramic Sunroof integrated with the available Sun & Sound Group that makes it suitable for both sun-lovers and stargazers. The Limited Elite Group features intense and efficient LED headlamps, Daytime Running Lamps, and taillamps. The High Altitude package is complete with 19-inch aluminum wheels, while the front of the Trailhawk trim is specifically styled for formidable approach angles, a black painted roof, red tow hooks, and a black hood decal.
Similar to the exterior, the interior of this Jeep vehicle is brimming with odd shapes, as well as tiny design surprises, like maps imprinted into cupholders. In terms of more practical customizations, the Jeep Air Filter is an air filtration system that reduces airborne dust particles to maintain a fresh interior. The storage arrives in abundance, ranging from 60/40 split-folding rear seats to an inventive, adjustable cargo floor that can be pushed up for convenient loading or pushed down for additional space. In fact, the front passenger seat can even be folded forward to accommodate cargo that is particularly long. For inclement weather, the automobile is also equipped with dual-zone automatic temperature control, a heated steering wheel, and heated exterior mirrors.
The 2023 Renegade’s infotainment unit functions through an 8.4-inch touchscreen display that supports the all-new Uconnect interface. The standard features include the following: built-in navigation, SiriusXM satellite radio, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay. A more dynamic audio system is also provided by Jeep via the Kenwood audio system on certain trims.
Safety Features and Warranty
The 2023 Jeep Renegade is replete with a slew of safety features, such as front parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, and a semi-autonomous feature which takes care of the task of parallel parking when it becomes necessary, or finds a perpendicular space. The following features are considered standard across the board: lane-departure warning and lane-keeping assist, rear cross-traffic alert and blind-spot monitoring, along with automated emergency braking and forward-collision warning. As for Jeep’s warranty, it is par for the course for the segment. Nonetheless, the brand does provide all trims 3 years of free maintenance. Additionally, the limited warranty covers three years or 36,000 miles, while the powertrain warranty covers five years or 60,000 miles.
