Five Things to Love About the 2020 Grand Cherokee

November 15th, 2019 by

The 2020 Grand Cherokee model remains king in its SUV segment thanks to a perfect blend of luxurious features and Jeep’s legendary off-roading prowess. Performance variants include an SRT-inspired muscle Grand Cherokee, an impressive feat for a four-wheel-drive family hauler. The 2020 Grand Cherokee offers buyers various powertrains to choose from, with styling that’s been continuously updated throughout the years. Despite its age — last fully revamped in 2014, the Grand Cherokee is poised for an overhaul by 2021, but in the meantime, here are five things we love about the 2020 model.

A Grand Cherokee for Everyone and Everything

Thanks to its rather large number of available engines, there’s truly a Grand Cherokee to suit every need. The base 3.6-liter V6 is the standard, but there are also three other powerful V8 engines available as an upgrade. Respectively the V8 engines generate 360, 475, or in the case of the top-tier Trackhawk trim, 707 horsepower.

Performance Trims

That’s right, this SUV isn’t playing around, it’s got plenty of power that’s sure to impress even the biggest muscle car diehard. We already mentioned the Trackhawk trim with its 707 horsepower, but there’s also a Grand Cherokee SRT trim for those that don’t want so much power. The Grand Cherokee SRT is powered by a 6.4-liter HEMI V8 engine that generates 475 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque.

Off-road Capability

A Jeep vehicle has to be true to tradition, and for this brand that means being able to conquer both the paved and unpaved road. The Grand Cherokee offers buyers plenty of rugged four-wheel-drive systems, all designed with rock-crawling, water fording, trail conquering capability. There’s even an optional air suspension that gives the Grand Cherokee an extra 4.1 inches of lift.

State-of-the-art Infotainment

The Grand Cherokee comes equipped with the latest UConnect infotainment systems, arguably one of the most intuitive on the market. The infotainment system comes standard with a 7-inch touchscreen (8.4-inch available), Google Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, available navigation, and hands-free Bluetooth.

Style

The exterior of the Grand Cherokee has been around for over a decade, but its style was prescient enough that it’s aged nicely. Competitors have opted for softer edges and other car-like exteriors, but the Grand Cherokee remains unapologetically shaped like a classic SUV. Its broad shape, coupled with its design lines and classic seven-slot grille make the Grand Cherokee one of the most distinctive SUVs in its segment.
