Jeep Wants You to “Find Your Freedom” With the 2020 Gladiator

April 3rd, 2019 by

If everything goes as planned Jeep’s first pickup truck in 27 years, the 2020 Gladiator, will be arriving in car dealers by late May of 2019. However, to celebrate the arrival of the Gladiator, Jeep has gone above and beyond by crafting 4,190 fully loaded Gladiator Rubicon Launch Edition units with unique badging, interior accents, and wheels. Additionally, Jeep will also host a “Find Your Freedom” contest, where one lucky Launch Edition buyer will be eligible to win $100,000 in lieu of a year’s salary as they take the year off to explore the road or trail in their new Gladiator.

The Launch Edition Gladiator has an MSRP of $60,815 (plus destination and handling charges) and is available for pre-order on April 4 at Jeep.com. Coincidentally, April 4 is the day that Jeep has deemed as 4×4 day, further adding to the celebratory feel. Many may be wondering why Jeep chose to produce such a particular amount – 4,190 vehicles as stated earlier – of the Launch Edition Gladiator, and as it turns out that there’s a very good reason. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) is limiting the amount to 4,190 units of the Launch Edition Gladiator in the U.S. as a hat tip to the 419 area code of Toledo, Ohio, where the Gladiator and Wrangler are manufactured and assembled.

Launch Edition Gladiator pickups feature 17-inch mid-gloss black aluminum rims, body-color hardtop, 33-inch Falken Wildpeak all-terrain tires, black leather seats with red accent stitching, fender flares, and a wrapped instrument panel painted in Monaco Silver. Other standard features on the Launch edition Gladiator also include LED head and tail lamps, an 8.4-inch infotainment touchscreen display, an innovative forward-facing  TrailCam camera, and a nine-speaker Alpine premium audio system. Blindspot and cross-path detection, full-speed Forward Collision Warning Plus, full-stop adaptive cruise control, advanced brake assist, and spray-in bed liner are all standard driver-assistance technologies on the Launch Edition Gladiator.

All trims of the Gladiator come with a steel cab and box, an aluminum hood, doors, windshield frame, and tailgate. Adapted from its Wrangler platform mate all Gladiator pickups are convertible, either with a soft top or removable hardtop, and doors that can be removed as well. Under the hood, a 3.6-L Pentastar V6 engine powers the Gladiator with 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque, mated to either a six-speed manual transmission or an optional eight-speed automatic. Jeep also has plans to launch a 3.0-L diesel V6 for the Gladiator in 2020.

As for the contest, once buyers have completed their Launch Edition Gladiator purchase, they’ll have to submit personal Gladiator-themed videos if they want to enter to win. The videos will be judged by Jeep brand managers and wounded warrior U.S. Army Veteran Noah Galloway. Like we mentioned earlier the winner will receive $100,000 so they can take a year off from work to explore the world with their Gladiator.
