Jeep Wrangler Hardtops vs. Soft Tops vs. Sky One-Touch Power Top Jeep Wrangler Top Comparisons
Thinking about buying a Jeep Wrangler but can’t decide on whether you want a hardtop, soft top, or the new One-Touch Power Top? We’ve got you covered! To better assist you in making your choice, we’ve put together a list of the pros and cons of each option. Take a look.
Jeep Wrangler JL Hardtops
Better Protection: An obvious benefit – a hard top is going to protect the driver better, especially from outside weather conditions like rain, snow, the hot sun, or even the fumes of a city bus. The interior cabin turns into a little cockpit equipped with some good tunes and a quiet drive.
Durability: Typically, a hardtop lasts for many years and, in some cases, the life of the vehicle. Hardtops are more resilient to damage, scratches, and any other type of cruel punishment. In rare circumstances, they have to be replaced due to old age or damage.
Storage Space: With the proper equipment, drivers can load up all kinds of gear on top of the vehicle. What’s fantastic about the Jeep Wrangler are the modifications and accessories that can be added. For instance, if a driver wants to store equipment on top of the vehicle, they can opt for an aluminum half rack or rugged black rack items like a kayak or bike.
Security: As with most hardtops, it’s easier to store valuables inside the Jeep without the worry of someone breaking in.
One of the downsides of a hardtop is the lack of ease in removing it. Driver’s will need someone to help lift the hardtop as it is at least a two-person job. Removing the hardtop is also easier than putting it back on, which will probably take longer. This might deter the consumer from wanting to take off the top when it’s nice outside and will make it difficult to switch back and forth. Plus, you’ll need somewhere to store the hardtop, it’s not collapsible like the soft top.
Jeep Wrangler JL Soft Tops
Versatility: There are a variety of soft top options – full tops, half tops, bikinis, and even flip tops, among many others. Deciding on a soft top is similar to picking out the perfect outfit for a hot date. With a variety of combinations, the driver can go a little formal and include doors or go without. The driver might also decide to go in between with half doors – the possibilities are endless, honestly.
Cost Savings: Because soft tops come in all kinds of combinations and styles, the summer ones, for instance, are offered at a meager cost. Consumers can get several soft tops for the price of one hard top.
Get Back to Nature: Ahhh yes, the freedom of the open air. From smelling the woods in the mountains to the salt from the ocean, soft tops allow drivers to get back to nature. A soft top can be adjusted in just a few minutes to help drivers escape and get back to their wild side.
One of the downsides to a soft top, is, depending on what kind it is, will only last for a certain amount of time. Soft tops can get damaged and worn over the years, and won’t last as long as a hardtop would. And of course, there is little security as far as leaving valuables inside.
Jeep Wrangler JL Sky One-Touch Power Top
Quick and Easy: With the touch of a single button, even while going as fast as 60 mph, the Sky One-Touch Power Top takes about 18 seconds to operate in either direction.
Open Air: Similar to the soft top, the Sky One-Touch Power Top also allows the driver to experience the beautiful open air, and all they have to do is push a button. AMAZING!
The only downside to the Sky One-Touch Power Top is that it isn’t designed to be removed, so those selecting that factory option are married to that choice.
