One of the largest parts of the ram trucks loyal fan base consists of devoted outdoorsman. So, there is no mission Ram takes more seriously than providing consumers with durable and dependable pickup trucks, even after years of ownership. Based on a study done by iSeeCars.com, results proved that Ram 1500 owners tend to keep their vehicles for slightly over seven years. Here’s why…

After exclusively surveying more than six million used vehicles that were five-years or older, and those that have been in production for more than nine years. To avoid any compromising effects, researchers also eliminated any vehicles with short-term leases. Furthermore, each vehicle was measured by their age once initially listed for sale. Researchers were able to determine that pickup trucks are owned longer than the overall vehicle, as a segment

Researchers discovered that pickup trucks were owned longer than the overall vehicle average of 7.7 years versus 7.4 years. On the other hand, within the pickup truck segment, that ownership term ranged from 7.2 years to 7.8 years and showed little variance in ownership throughout the years. In the end, Ram 1500 specifically ranked fifth in the pickup truck segment with an average length of ownership of 7.4 years and even scored higher than its biggest competitors.

According to iSeeCars CEO Phong Ly, “Pickup trucks are often used as work vehicles and are known for their durability,” adding, “Pickup truck drivers are likely to place more value on function and reliability rather than keeping up with modern design and technology trends.”
