2020 Chrysler Pacifica vs. 2020 Honda Odyssey vs. 2020 Toyota Sienna

February 20th, 2020 by

Sometimes it feels as if the automotive segment is filled with great three-row SUVs, but there’s no better family hauler than the humble minivan. In fact, there’s actually no better minivan on the market today than the 2020 Chrysler Pacifica. When it comes to the best multimedia technology, second-row seating, and rear-seat entertainment systems, the Pacifica can’t be beaten. Here’s how the 2020 Chrysler Pacifica fares against the 2020 Honda Odyssey and 2020 Toyota Sienna.

Technology

The 2020 Pacifica comes standard with the brand’s Uconnect 4 multimedia system, however, the up-and-coming Pacifica Launch Edition will feature the brand’s latest Uconnect 5 infotainment system. A 10.1-inch touchscreen is the standard, complete with clear graphics and dual phone pairing via Bluetooth, and Google Android Auto and Apple CarPlay capabilities. Both the Honda Odyssey and the Toyota Sienna come standard with smaller touchscreens — 8- and 7-inch touchscreens, respectively. Neither of the infotainment systems offered on both of those models are as intuitive as the Uconnect interfaces.

Second-Row Seating

All three minivans feature second-row captain’s chairs, but there are plenty of differences among the three where versatility is concerned. The Pacifica is the only 2020 minivan equipped with Chrysler’s famous Stow ‘n Go bucket seats that easily fold into the floor. There’s no cumbersome captain’s chairs removal process here, unlike on the Honda Odyssey or Toyota Sienna. Additionally, the Pacifica is undefeated when it comes to comfort, as the captain’s chairs are supportive and roomy with plenty of leg-room for passengers to stretch out.

Rear-Seat Entertainment System

Nowadays families travel with more electronic devices than ever before, almost making rear-seat entertainment systems feel obsolete, but that’s not the case on the 2020 Pacifica. Chrysler went above and beyond when it introduced its Uconnect Theater rear-seat entertainment system, making it the one to beat. There are two 10.1-inch touchscreens mounted on the rear of the front seats, complete with a Blu-ray player and Android-based streaming. The Pacifica’s Uconnect Theater also offers passengers built-in games to help pass the time. On the other hand, both the Honda Odyssey and Toyota Sienna do support media streaming, but their big loss is that the optional entertainment system is offered on overhead second-row screens. There are also no built-in games like on the innovative Uconnect Theater system.

In the end, the Pacifica delivers more than the Odyssey or Sienna models, especially on the tech front. Additionally, Chrysler remains the only automaker to offer a hybrid variant of a minivan with the Pacifica Hybrid model. Minivans remain the best options for budding families thanks to all the family-oriented features, despite the fact that three-row SUVs feel as if they’re dominating the market.
