2020 Dodge Challenger Highlights
Although the Dodge Challenger has gone more than a decade without a significant redesign, it’s still very worthy of our consideration. To begin with, the Challenger offers more of a classic muscle car than any other automaker out there, including both Ford and Chevy whose similar offerings skew closer to sports cars. The Challenger offers a bold and broad-shouldered design that brings that muscle car feel. Here are a few unique bragging points of the 2020 Dodge Challenger.
Changes for 2020
The 2020 Dodge Challenger offers buyers a small number of updates. Every trim except the base rear-wheel-drive SXT trim features new wheel designs. There are also three new exterior colors: Frostbite, Hellraisin, and Sinamon Stick. Dodge also changed up the interior a bit with leather door panels and a stitched dash on Challenger vehicles with leather upholstery. Carbon fiber trim and faux suede accents are available on the HEMI V8 powered trims, while there’s also a new caramel-colored Alcantara interior for the GT, R/T, and R/T Scat Pack trims.
Interior & Technology
The Challenger is very distinctive thanks to its interior. Some interesting design choices include the standard houndstooth cloth upholstery in the base trim, to the two-tone leather options available as upgrades. There’s also a standard 7-inch touchscreen display, but an even larger 8.4-inch touchscreen display is also available as optional or standard on the high-tier trims. As for the infotainment system, the 2020 Challenger features the latest Uconnect system that comes standard with Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto capabilities.
The 2020 Challenger provides plenty of choices when it comes to performance and powertrain choices. There’s a standard base engine on the SXT and GT trims, a 3.6-liter V6 capable of generating 305 horsepower and 268 lb-ft of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission is standard, as is rear-wheel-drive, but buyers can also opt for all-wheel-drive with this engine. As we climb up the trim tiers, the 2020 Challenger R/T follows with a 5.7-liter HEMI V8 engine that’s good for 372 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque.
The 5.7-liter is also paired with the standard eight-speed automatic transmission. Meanwhile, the R/T Scat Pack trim is powered by a 6.4-liter HEMI V8 that generates a whopping 485 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque. The Challenger Hellcat trim adds to all that power with a supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI V8 engine under the hood that generates an absurdly powerful 717 horsepower and 656 lb-ft of torque. Finally, the Hellcat Redeye features its own variant of the Hellcat engine that produces 797 horsepower and 707 lb-ft of torque.
