Engine Type
The 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee is powered by either a 293-horsepower 3.6-liter V-6 engine or the plug-in-hybrid 4xe powertrain, consisting of a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four and an electric motor generating a combined 375 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. The hybrid’s motor is propelled by a 14.0-kilowatt-hour battery pack. Rear-wheel drive is standard with the base V-6, but all-wheel drive is standard on Grand Cherokee SUVs with the plug-in-hybrid powertrain. Various all-wheel-drive systems are available, including an electronically locking limited-slip differential. For example, a Trailhawk trim with more robust off-road equipment and greater capability features an adjustable air suspension that provides up to 11.3 inches of ground clearance and a disconnecting anti-roll bar that allows greater wheel articulation for conquering challenging terrain.
What’s new for 2024?
Other than some new 18-inch polished aluminum wheels for the mid-range Limited trim, the Grand Cherokee SUV rolls into 2024 unchanged.
Style
Exterior Features
The 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee lives up to the model’s 30-year history with its squared-off lines and limited adornment. The Grand Cherokee has aged well since day one, and the current model is no exception. A short, upright grille with seven slots nods to Jeep’s past, but the large LED headlights are solidly 21st-century. Clean side profile lines and squared-off wheel arches give the Grand Cherokee a classic appearance. Differentiation between trims is minimal, though, aside from the 4xe. That version’s blue accents give it away as the plug-in hybrid. Trailhawk iterations also wear chunky tires and exposed tow hooks for a brawny and practical appearance.
Interior Features
A thoroughly modernized cabin replaces the outgoing Grand Cherokee SUV’s relatively dated interior. While base Laredo trims provide the essentials, upscale Summit and Overland trims add luxuries including open-pore wood trim, quilted leather upholstery, and high-tech digital display units. The Grand Cherokee is strictly a two-row SUV, but buyers seeking a third row can upgrade to the Grand Cherokee L.
Technology
Entertainment
Floating just above the surface of the Grand Cherokee vehicle’s dashboard is either an 8.4- or 10.1-inch touchscreen with standard Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and SiriusXM satellite radio. Moreover, in-dash navigation with real-time traffic and weather updates is optional, and higher-end trims can be had with a 10.0-inch head-up display, a digital gauge cluster, and another 10.3-inch display embedded into the dashboard for use by the front-seat passenger. While the Laredo and Limited trims ship with a standard six-speaker stereo, customers can upgrade to either a nine-speaker Alpine audio setup or a high-end 19-speaker McIntosh arrangement.
Safety Features and Warranty
The 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee is delivering a more comprehensive suite of standard safety technology to satisfy customer demand. Essential safety features range from standard automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection to standard lane-departure warning and lane-keeping assist. Adaptive cruise control is also standard, along with a digital rearview mirror. Additionally, there is a standard 360-degree surround view camera, drowsy driver detection, and night vision. In terms of warranty, the 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee has a limited warranty that covers three years or 36,000 miles. The powertrain warranty covers five years or 60,000 miles, while complimentary scheduled maintenance extends to three years.
