FCA Rounds Up Awards at Texas Truck Rodeo
If there is one automaker to keep an eye on these days, it would be Fiat Chrysler. Moreso, the entire automotive group, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) is doing pretty great. Outselling Ford Motors for the first three-quarters of 2018, recently announcing a new turbo inline six-cylinder engine, and new vehicles are always on the horizon. Most recently, FCA brand Ram Trucks announced two new trucks to debut, a midsize Ram pickup truck and special edition Ram 1500 Rebel 12. That’s not the only news for Ram though – Ram also took home many awards, as did all of FCA, from the Texas Truck Rodeo.
For those that aren’t Texas-born, there’s a little event that goes on every year for three days to find the best vehicles on the market. Mostly leaning towards larger vehicles, the vehicles to judge usually consist of SUVs and trucks. This year, 2018, 57 pickup trucks, SUVs, crossovers, and commercial vehicles entered into the competition. There were 19 brands in total that showed up this year.
Held by the Texas Automotive Writers Association (TAWA), the Texas Truck Rodeo competition also comes with a judge panel of TAWA members. Over the course of the first two days, 69 TAWA members evaluated the various vehicles, investigating their exterior and interior style, their capabilities, performance, and comfort. The votes were entered, and out of 24 awards, FCA took home the most.
“The all-new 2019 Ram 1500 stole the hearts of our members this year, and has earned our highest honor as the 2019 Truck of Texas. It’s not only capable, but it is comfortable, and the attention to detail is unlike anything in the truck market. It’s a home run for the Ram brand that scored the Truck of Texas trophy,” said Michael Marrs, President of TAWA.
Who’s surprised? With all the great news about the new 2019 Ram 1500, it doesn’t take a genius to figure out this is the truck that deserves an award. The new Ram 1500 won several in fact: the “Full-Size Pickup Truck of Texas”, “Luxury Pickup Truck of Texas”, “Off-Road Pickup Truck of Texas”, “Best Powertrain” (thanks to the eTorque Mild Hybrid System), and “Best New Technology” (thanks to the 12-inch Uconnect Touchscreen) awards.
Crowned “Truck of Texas” is the 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie Longhorn for its cowboy style, true to the heart of Texas. The Ram Power Wagon also went home with an award, “Heavy Duty Pickup Truck of Texas”. We did mention that FCA as a whole won some awards, and other FCA brands. The all-new 2018 Jeep Wrangler winning “Off-Road SUV of Texas” and “Mid-Size SUV of Texas”, and for the 7th year in-a-row, the Jeep Grand Cherokee won “Mid-Size Luxury SUV”. For the second year in-a-row, the Dodge Durango SRT also took home some gold with the “Full-Size SUV” award.
All of the above award-winning vehicles and more can be found on Cape Coral Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram.
