Introducing the 2020 Dodge Charger 50th Anniversary Edition

August 13th, 2019 by

Dodge and its performance vehicles continue on their winning streak, now the brand is poised to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Dodge Charger with the most powerful Charger ever. The 2020 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody Daytona 50th Anniversary Edition raises the performance bar even higher with its 717 horsepower which makes it the fastest mass-produced sedan in the world.

It’s hard to believe that Dodge launched the iconic Charger Daytona model 50 years ago. Initially designed to dominate NASCAR racing with its massive wing and huge nose, the Dodge prototype broke records as the first car to exceed 200 mph average lap speed. Said record remained untouched for over 17 years. Dodge only manufactured a total of 501 units of the 1969 model — the amount of units required to participate in the NASCAR circuit at the time. The 1969 model has been a highly-coveted collector’s car ever since.

The design of the 50th Anniversary Edition channels the attitude of the original record-setting Daytona while substantially upgrading the power to a whopping 717 horsepower. Throwback features include a unique “Daytona” decklid, Daytona-exclusive B5 Blue paint, and a rear-quarter decal with a matching spoiler. Just like the original, the 50th Anniversary Edition is limited to 501 units as well.

“The Dodge brand continues to push the boundaries of performance with the most powerful and fastest mass-produced sedan in the world, the Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody. Today, with the introduction of the limited-production Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody Daytona, we are both recognizing the Dodge brand’s performance heritage and staying true to our roots by offering high-performance, collectible vehicles that continue to defy the trends and deliver attainable performance that can’t be found anywhere else,” said Tim Kuniskis, Global Head of Alfa Romeo and Head of Passenger Cars — Dodge, SRT, Chrysler, Fiat, FCA — North America.

Expanding on the legacy of the original, the 50th Anniversary Edition Charger offers an additional 3.5 inches of width with wider wheels are tires. This creates an aggressive and sturdy design, unlike any other four-door sedan on the market. Dodge designers and engineers wanted to honor the past and added heritage touches that are sure to thrill Dodge fans. The 50th Anniversary Edition is offered in four exterior paint colors — B5 Blue (exclusive to the Daytona Edition), Pitch Black, Triple Nickel, and White Knuckle. Completing the look are a set of 20- by 11-inch “Warp Speed” wheels coated in a unique Satin Carbon finish and clad in Pirelli all-season performance tires.

The interior of the 50th Anniversary Edition Charger features a unique black heated and ventilated Nappa leather upholstery coupled with Alcantara suede performance seats, and blue accent stitching. The blue stitching is also featured throughout the cabin, on the center console armrest, dashboard, door panels and shifter. There’s even a custom IP badge with the Hellcat and Daytona logos on the passenger side that indicates the vehicle is “x out of 501” units. Even the premium velour-bound floor mats are unique with a blue dual-stitched accent border, and not to mention exclusive to the 50th Anniversary Edition. The 50th Anniversary Edition Charger will be available for order in the Fall of 2019.
