Jeep Gladiator is “Truck of the Year” Once More

April 9th, 2020 by

The Jeep Gladiator has something to celebrate — it was deemed “Truck of the Year” by the Rocky Mountain Automotive Press (RMAP). This marks the second time in a span of a few months in which the Jeep Gladiator is deemed the “Truck of the Year.” The first accolade was the designation of the pickup as the North American Truck of the Year in its model launch year.

The RMAP chooses its winner with the help of a nominating committee that consists of 95 press members. Fuel economy values, vehicle attributes, features, capabilities, and performance are all taken into account by RMAP members as they dole out the Truck of the Year distinction. After a thorough evaluation of the vehicles available, the nominating committee is required to narrow down the choices to three finalists. Once the finalists are selected, the 95 members vote, said votes are tallied, and a winner is announced.

“As the voting finished up for the Rocky Mountain Automotive Press vehicle of the year, we were thrilled to have the 2020 Jeep Gladiator come out on top. When it comes to an iconic name, Jeep has to be one of the top in the industry and we at RMAP definitely felt the new Gladiator was worthy of this award. We are thrilled to have it as our Truck of the Year in the Rocky Mountain region,” said RMAP President Craig Conover.

The Rocky Mountain Vehicle of the Year awards were established 14 years ago with the aim of recognizing pickups that are either all-new or revised for the model year. In order to be eligible for the award,  vehicles have to be in the Rocky Mountain regional press fleet and available for RMAP members to test. RMAP is composed of 95 media members from the following states: Kansas, Nebraska, Arizona, New Mexico, Wyoming, Utah, and of course Colorado. RMAP members work to inform the public and help them make educated choices when it comes to leasing or buying a new vehicle. RMAP journalists regularly work in partnership with automotive executives, engineers, designers, and other representatives to learn about vehicles and they commonly receive fleet vehicles for review and testing purposes.
