Looking for an SUV or crossover that can fit a large family and still have plenty of space for cargo or technology for entertainment? Then look no further than the 2018 Dodge Journey. Described as the “Adventure Driven Crossover”, although in the Sports Utility Vehicle class, the Dodge Journey does offer more than just the power of an SUV. There’s cargo space and configurations available throughout the cabin and on the roof, and many comfort luxuries for all passengers.

If consumers aren’t looking for a whole lot of power, then they may be comfortable with the 173 horsepower and 166 lb-ft of torque generated by the standard 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine, already found standard in most of the lineup. However, when going for a crossover or an SUV, it’s more than just fuel economy the driver is after. Most trims can opt-in for the popular and award-winning 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine, able to generate 283 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. Not only does that not hurt the fuel economy too much, with up 25 mpg on the highway, but also bumps the towing capacity up to 2500 pounds.

Is a trailer not necessary? Only need to sit a few people but like the cargo space? Although the 2018 Dodge Journey can sit seven people, the second row is a 60/40 split-folding bench, and the third row is a 50/50 fold-flat reclining seat. Fold both rows down for a total of 67.6 cubic-feet, or fold down the 60-percent for long items and make use of the other 40-percent for passengers. There’s also an in-floor cargo area storage in the trunk, and in-floor coolers in the second row. The Dodge Journey is conveniently cool.

Then there’s the comfortable luxuries of the Dodge Journey to enjoy. If going a little higher up the lineup, say the 2018 Dodge Durango Crossroads trim, consumers can enjoy leather upholstery, heated front seats, and a heated steering wheel for the chilly season. There’s also automatic dual-zone temperature control for these hot summers and sunscreen glass to keep the cabin from heating up – a lineup standard, how nice!

Of course when it comes to technology and entertainment, the Dodge Journey is completely loaded. The 8.4-inch touchscreen with Uconnect is pretty nice, offering voice command with Bluetooth and SiriusXM Satellite Radio. If travelling with a large family, or just children, a second-row overhead 9-inch video screen is available for keeping them occupied, or at least long enough for 1-2 hours, depending on the movie.

Looking for a large vehicle that’s modern, spacious, and family-friendly? The Dodge Journey is the vehicle to check out. What do you think about the Journey? Let us know on Cape Coral social media.
