A Tough Spot for a Local Father

Many of you may have seen the news recently about Jeremy Smith, a Fort Myers resident and mechanic who found himself in a difficult situation. Jeremy had been doing whatever it took to provide for his family and get to work, even if it meant driving a vehicle that was well past its prime.

When his old car was finally impounded for being unsafe, Jeremy was left with no way to get to work and no way to transport his son. It’s a struggle many people face: you need a car to get to work, but you need work to afford a car.

Stepping Up for SWFL

When our Managing Partner, Joshua Clinton, saw Jeremy’s story on TikTok, he knew we couldn’t just sit on the sidelines. We’ve all been through struggles, and as a local business, we felt we were in a unique position to help a hard-working member of our community get a fresh start.

Last Thursday, we invited Jeremy down to the dealership on Pine Island Road. We didn’t just find him any car; we found him a reliable 2014 Jeep Cherokee.

The final sale price? Exactly $1.00.

Handing over the keys to Jeremy was a moment none of us will forget. For Jeremy, it was more than just a set of wheels—it was a lifeline.

“Try not to be down in the dumps or stay down, because someday it will get better,” Jeremy told local news crews. “And you never know what can happen.”

Joshua Clinton summed it up best: “Cars have never been less affordable than they are right now. We saw a chance to do something good for someone who really needed a win, and we took it.”
